SEASON

JANUARY - MARCH: SECRET SEASON
We love this time of the year in Tanzania. Between the short rains in November and the long rains in April/May, it is the warmest time of the year with beautiful days. This is Mozambique's 'green season’, the most humid months where temperatures often reach more than 35ºC. Days are hot and sunny with tropical rain bursts, but these usually occur in the late afternoon or overnight. These showers bring some relief from the heat! The turtles lay their eggs along the beaches from December to February and hatchlings appear from late January through to March.

APRIL - JUNE: RAIN SHOWERS & WHALES
For those who are not afraid of a few showers this is a lovely time to travel to Tanzania! Please note however that many camps are closed during April and May. This is a lovely time in Mozambique - April can still be a little wet but the days are lovely and warm (not as hot and humid as January to March) and the evenings start to cool. The whales start appearing along the coastline in June.
Azura Selous closed 1 April - 31 May

JULY - SEPTEMBER: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
In July the Tanzanian landscape is lush and green after the rains, with warm, dry days throughout August and September - it is a superb time to come to Tanzania! A lovely time of year in Mozambique, days are lovely and warm with cool evenings. Good chances of seeing the humpback whales as they start appearing along the coastline, and it is also a great time for scuba diving.

OCTOBER - DECEMBER: HOT SUMMER DAYS
One of the best seasons to visit Tanzania and it is the perfect time for travellers who are not bound by school holidays. These are wonderful months and can be getting hot and dry before the November short rains. Mozambican days are now much hotter, the heat builds from late October and the much-needed rains start in November. November is also the start of the turtle nesting season.
