SEASON

JANUARY - MARCH: EXCELLENT TIME TO VISIT
Peak season for the Cape with lovely warm and dry days. February and March can be the hottest months and a great time to visit the Kruger. January is the peak of the wet season in Zambia, but during this 'Emerald Season' it is a great time to be visiting the Victoria Falls when it is at its greatest volume. We love this time of year in Kenya - it was traditionally the high season before the 'migration fixation' as it is the warmest time of the year with beautiful days.

APRIL - JUNE: SOME RAIN SHOWERS
Autumn is setting in in the Cape Winelands, the days are much cooler and comfortable with some refreshing rain showers. It is much cooler in the Kruger but dry, with temperatures making it comfortabel to travel. In Zambia most of the rain has disappeared by mid-May when the landscape is rich and lush. A lovely time to visit the Falls. This is Kenya's rainy season with some camps closing during April and May. Kenya is perfect for photography at this time of the year.
Giraffe Manor is closed 24 April - 11 May | Sala's Camp is closed 19 April - 31 May

JULY - SEPTEMBER: SAFARI SEASON
July and August are still quite cool but warming up in South Africa, and this is one of the nicest times to travel. The Cape Winelands rains end around September and the days are dry in the Kruger. This is a superb time for Zambia! The temperatures are still moderate so walking about Livingstone and seeing all the area has to offer is done comfortably. This is peak safari season in Kenya as the wildebeest are migrating from the Serengeti and start arriving in the Mara - Sala's camp is one of the first camps to view their arrival.

OCTOBER - DECEMBER: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Another lovely period to travel as the Western Cape is fresh and green after the winter rains and the days are lovely and warm. Zambia can get very hot in October, and cools down as the rains start falling in November. These are wonderful months to be in Kenya and can be getting hot and dry before the November short rains. Like January to March, September and October are another ‘secret season’ and the perfect time for travellers who are not bound by school holidays.
Sala's Camp is closed 1 - 30 November
