SEASON

JANUARY - MARCH: MOST CAMPS ARE CLOSED
This is Zambia's 'Emerald Season' – when most camps close and many roads in Zambia become impassable so there is not much happening in the Luangwa Valley!
Most of The Bushcamps are closed, but Kapamba and Zungulila are open until 6th January offering unique Emerald Season safaris.

APRIL - JUNE: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
The rains gradually subsides from April and camps begin to open. The bush is very green and wildlife sightings are beginning to be very good. Days are wonderful and warm and the evenings can be cool and sometimes cold. June is a lovely time to be on safari as temperatures are extremely comfortable especially for walking safaris, and the grass is now flatter and the bush opens up offering better visibility.
The Bushcamp Company camps start opening from 16 April.

JULY - SEPTEMBER: PEAK SAFARI SEASON
Superb time for Zambia, especially for the walking safari enthusiasts, as the temperatures are still moderate to make walking comfortable (especially in July and August). Game viewing is excellent. But as the camps operate such a limited season and this is the peak period spaces fill up well in advance so we suggest planning ahead to ensure the ultimate Zambian safari.

OCTOBER - DECEMBER: THE SEASON IS COMING TO AN END
Before the November rains the temperatures start to climb: the Luangwa Valley can get very hot in October. But the wildlife sightings are superb as animals start to keep close to water sources, this is when the Luangwa comes into its own with the river being the central attraction and this becomes safari mania.
Selected camps open until 6 January 2018.
