Conservation success at Chem Chem

13 April 2017

TANZANIA: It is always good (and not done often enough) to take a step back and remind ourselves of the bigger picture. This week we celebrate CHEM CHEM SAFARIS. Through the Chem Chem Foundation they are making a significant difference through conservation and community upliftment.

Through protecting the Chem Chem Concession we have seen a fantastic increase in lion populations at both LITTLE CHEM CHEM and CHEM CHEM LODGE. This in-turn has intensified human-wildlife conflict as lions target livestock. One of the Chem Chem Foundation projects is to build Big Bomas to protect livestock, indirectly protecting the lions.

Our aim is to have 60 Big Bomas completed by the end of the season. At a cost of US$ 500 each, support from our guests and trade partners is invaluable. We are grateful for each of you who share this vision of a Sustainable Africa.

TAKE NOTE:
  • 2018 RATES — The new rates are ready and there are a few changes:
    • KURO ARRIVAL — Arrivals before 13:30 into Kuro Airstrip will include a complimentary game drive transfer to both CHEM CHEM LODGE and LITTLE CHEM CHEM. However, arrivals after 14:00 cannot be accommodated due to the time restriction on departing the Tarangire National Park.
  • IMPORTANT: CHEM CHEM FOUNDATION — With immediate effect, an optional US$ 50 will be added to each new booking, directly funding one of the Chem Chem Foundation projects. For now all funds will be allocated to Big Bomas and guests receive a personal update on their contribution. You may ask to have this removed, or you can donate on behalf of your guests.
