Safari Planning Tips for 2018

14 December 2017

KENYA: As THE SAFARI COLLECTION's 2018 rates start from the 16th December, we remind you of a few important notes you may have missed during the year.

SAFARI PLANNING TIPS:
  • GIRAFFE MANOR — Welcoming Edd & Salma, 2 new Superior Rooms in the Garden Manor, the capacity increases to 12 rooms altogether.
    • Please remember, the Garden Manor is reserved for guests using Sala's Camp, Sasaab and/or Solio Lodge in the same itinerary. Tip: great value COMBINATION OFFERS this way!
    • Check-in is strictly 11:00 am and check-out at 10:00 am.
    • Early-bird arrival is available for guests with early flight arrivals and collection is strictly from 6:00 am at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. It is not available for guests staying elsewhere in Nairobi. Guests will have their room available from normal check-in time and breakfast is served in the dining room. Giraffe interaction will be possible the next morning in the breakfast room.
    • Luggage left for safe-keeping at Giraffe Manor is charged at US$ 5 per item per day.
  • SOLIO LODGE — One of few places where you can see black and white rhino together, Solio is an incredible lodge with majestic views of Mount Kenya. A must-do is a day trip into the Aberdare National Park for fly-fishing, beautiful waterfalls, and a fabulous picnic lunch.
  • SASAAB — Climb onto the back of a camel, or to the top of Sundowner Rock. Sasaab holds a special place in all of our hearts with so much to offer, from getting to know the people, their culture, the vast landscape, the resident dik-diks and rock hyraxes, to getting the adrenaline rushing on a quad bike or finding your inner adventurer through fly-camping.
  • SALA'S CAMP — Now with plunge pools at every tent, they are quite the splash.
    • Please note there is no late departure from Sala's during High Season. Late departures during Standard Season are available at 50% of the per night rate and guests have use of the main areas. Normal check-out time applies to the room.
  • COMBINATION OFFERS — The one-stop solution to building a circuit in Kenya. Up to 40% off accommodation - READ MORE.

Tafika Camp

Owner run and bush home to John and Carol Coppinger, Tafika Camp is the base camp for Remote Africa Safaris, nestled in the shade of giant Leadwood trees. The remote location makes it ideal for those who really want to get away from it all and experience the bush in the true sense of the word. Situated on the banks of the Luangwa, the camp provides amazing views of the river with plenty of opportunity to see elephants crossing, hippos wallowing and king fishers darting in and out the river offering a wonderful way to relax when not enjoying walking safaris, cycling trails or day & night game drives!..
